If I bring a lawsuit against my doctor in New York, will he lose his license?

A: The short answer is "no."
If the doctor has committed an intentional act to harm patient, then in all likelihood, he would lose his license to practice. Most cases of medical malpractice involve carelessness and mistakes made during the course of care and treatment.

A lawsuit is designed to recover compensation for the injuries you suffered as a result of carelessness. Many injured victims come in to an attorney's office hoping and expecting that their lawsuit will force the doctor to lose his or her license. It simply does not happen that way.
